Introduction to Tubeless

Rollers Of Death

Ever wondered just how good tubeless sealant is at keeping air inside your tyres? Have a look to find out…

Myths And Misconceptions

De-bugging and de-mystifying some of the common ‘fake-news’ around running a tubeless setup.

Getting Setup

Tubeless Tire Mounting

Learn how easy it is to install tubeless tyres.

Sealant Install: Valve Injection

The easiest and most straightforward way to add sealant.

Sealant Install: Direct Pour

How to add sealant without the valve injector, and without making a mess!

Race Sealant Install - Stan's NoTubes

Stan’s Race sealant is designed to protect against much larger tyre damage. This added protection requires that the sealant is installed directly into the tyre to avoid clogging your valves. Watch on for more information.

Tubeless Tape Installation

Applying rim tape to upgrade your wheelset to tubeless or replacing old tape is ease and straightforward, see how.

Trailside Repairs

DART Tool Instructions

Sharp rocks and trail debris can cause tyre damage that’s not easily plugged with sealant alone. Stan’s Dart tool works in conjunction with the sealant in your tyres to repair much larger holes and tears, keeping you out on the trail.

Adding Sealant Trailside

See how easy it is to top up your tyre sealant when out on the trail. Ideal in cases where you’ve sustained a puncture that hasn’t sealed, and you think your tyres may be running low on sealant. Also an excellent companion to the Dart tool to ensure the nastiest cuts to your tyres don’t spoil your ride.

DART Refill Instructions

Watch for instructions on how to reload your Dart tool using the refill pack.

Tubeless Maintenance

Sealant Refresh

Sealant evaporates overtime, especially when riding in warmer climates or storing your bike in a warm place. Check out how to ensure your tyres are topped up and ready/

Valve Core Maintenance

Does adding air to your tyres give you unnecessary arm ache? Your valve cores may blocked. This video will show you how to easily solve the problem.

Tubeless Technology

Riact - Carbon technology

The carbon fiber rims of Stans CB7 series are 30% stiffer laterally than their aluminum counterparts, but the key to their outstanding ride quality is Radial Impact Absorbing Carbon Technology (RiACT).

RiACT rims allow the wheel system to absorb more, offering levels of vibration damping and impact absorption never possible before, letting the rims and wheelsets roll faster and last longer.

CB7 carbon rims can deflect 7-10mm without damage or pinch flatting - see in the video!

wideright

WideRight rim profiles allow the tire to achieve its proper shape, and that's the foundation for a great handling, fast-rolling, and responsive bike. The WideRight system makes it easy to find the perfect rim width for the tire size and volume you ride. Too narrow of an internal rim mixed with a high sidewall design gives you a "light bulb" tire profile while an ultra wide rim on a narrower tire will give you a flat to "bell shaped" tire profile. Neither of these scenarios give optimal tire profiles nor allows the tire to perform as intended. The WideRight profile advantages don't stop there. Proper tire profiles not only allow for optimal tire performance but also allow the tire to do its secondary job of protecting the rim as well as the tire's sidewall.

In the information of each of the rims we offer, is the recommended tyre size.

bst & bst-r

Bead Socket Technology rims are designed to match the shape of your tire's bead to create a safer and more secure air tight interface. In contrast conventional rim shapes drive the bead of the tire down deeper into the rim, putting pressure on sidewalls that causes friction, restricts tire volume, and keeps the interface from forming a sufficient seal for tubeless use. BST rims secure the bead of the tire, not the sidewall, creating an air tight seal while allowing the tire's sidewall to expand to its true, rounder, more effective profile. The result is more traction and less rolling resistance. With lower-profile, less vulnerable sidewalls, BST rims are also lighter and stronger by design, and accelerate more quickly.

Key Differences Between BST and BST-R

The BST system was developed specifically for tubeless use with pressures below 45psi. From the Iron Cross to our Hugo, Stans offer low pressure BST rims for tires in the 32mm to 122mm width range. The broader pressure range of our BST-R Series rims and wheelsets means they're optimised for tubeless use with tires in the 32mm to 50mm range at pressures of 45psi or lower, as well as 25mm to 32mm tires specifically designated as "tubeless" that feature reinforced beads designed for pressures up to 115psi. Both BST and BST-R rims and wheelsets may be used with tubes.
